Delete your account

Delete your Samwell account yourself, in the mobile app or on the web. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

In the mobile app

  1. Open the “Me” tab.
  2. Tap “Delete my account”.
  3. Read what is erased and what your organizations keep.
  4. Type your email address to confirm, then tap “Permanently delete my account”.

On the web

  1. Sign in to Samwell.
  2. Open “My profile”, then the “Access and privacy” tab. Without an organization, use the “Delete my account” link at the top of the welcome screen.
  3. In the “Delete my account” card, type your email address.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

What is erased

  • Your account and your access to Samwell, on all your devices, immediately
  • Your sessions, your two-step verification and your passkeys (Face ID, fingerprint)
  • Your profile and the personal contact details tied to the account
  • The tokens that sent notifications to your devices

What your organization keeps

  • Your employment and payroll records stay with your organizations, detached from your account: the law requires them to keep them (for example for tax slips and records of employment).
  • One line in each organization’s log records that an account was deleted, with no other information.
  • To have information the organization keeps corrected or erased, contact the organization: it is responsible for it.

If you were the only person with an account

  • An organization cannot remain with no one to manage it: its closure is requested automatically.
  • Its data is removed 30 days later, then kept 100 days in an encrypted archive, out of the application’s reach, before being erased. Payroll is kept as long as the law requires.
  • Until that date, the closure can be cancelled: email us at [email protected].
  • Remember to download the organization’s full data export before deleting your account.

No longer have access to your account?

Email us at [email protected] from your account’s email address. Include:

  • your name
  • the account’s email address
  • the name of your organization, if any

Close an entire organization

Deleting your account does not close the organization. To close it and delete all of its data, someone who manages the settings does it from Settings.
